The Q&A Archives: Leaves Used As Mulch

Question: Can leaves be used as a mulch around shrubs and trees?

Answer: You bet! That is the way the forest was designed to work. For most situations, a 3 inch layer of leaves is adequate. If you use pine needles, a 4-5 inch layer is about right.
