| I just received some Lavender Mountain Lilies and am not sure when to plant them, is it fall or winter that they need to be planted. Also do they need lots of sunshine or shade, we received no instructions with them at all. Thanking you in advance for your help! |
| Your lavender mountain lilies (Lilium auratum) will grow 4'-6' tall and produce very fragrant flowers in late summer. Plant them now, in a sunny garden spot, in deep, rich, well-draining soil. (Amend the soil with lots of organic matter prior to planting.) If the bulbs are small, cover with 2"-3" of soil; if they're large, cover with 4"-6" of soil. After planting add a 2"-3" layer of organic mulch over the soil to help retain moisture, suppress weeds and keep the soil cool. The bulbs will produce foliage in the spring and bloom in late summer.
