The Q&A Archives: Germinating Impatiens Seeds

Question: I have a hard time getting the seeds for impatiens to take. What am I doing wrong? I waste more seeds!! B.Barber Mt.Juliet, TN

Answer: Sow impatiens seeds on the surface of the media and gently press them into the mixture (they need light to germinate). Bottom water until the surface of the media changes color (is wet) and cover with plastic wrap. Put under fluorescent lights and keepat 70 degrees F. Germination should occur in 8-14 days. Remove the plastic when germination is apparent. Transplant into individual pots.
