| My daughter's boyfriend blessed me with the Hawaiian Lei plant (sorry I can't think of the name) and I transplanted it and it dropped it's leaves almost immediately from the shock. Now that it's colder I expect that it will be dormant. Is there any chance that it will come back when the weather starts warming up in March, I've had to cover my plants and more or less leave the covers on because of the frost. I would like to think that it will and maybe be able to make some lei's from the blossoms. Any advice you can give about this beautiful plant would be most appreciated. |
| Without knowing the identity of the plant, it's difficult to make a recommendation. Generally the flowers used for lei's are orchids. If this is an orchid, it won't grow outdoors during the winter months in your area. Orchids make terrific houseplants, though, given bright light and plenty of moisture and humidity. So, if it is an orchid, take it indoors before the weather gets too much colder! If it's not an orchid, try to find out precisely what it is, so we can forward the growing requirements to you. |
