Eschscholzia is the botanical name for California Poppy. It has feathery foliage and slim stalks bearing cup-shaped flowers. The plants are easy to care for, but difficult to transplant. Sow seeds directly outdoors if possible. If you must start them indoors, sow in individual peat pots filled with moistened seed starting mix so you can plant the seedlings pots and all in their garden spots.

Sow seeds 1/4" deep in moistened seed starting mix and keep at 60F-65F. Seeds will germinate in 14-21 days.

Provide full sunshine and ordinary, well-drained soil outdoors. Water regularly and remove spent flowers to prolong blooming season.
