| Used pallets are easily used to make a compost bin. I have used them myself. The easiest method is to use pound-in metal "T" fence post stakes from the farm supply or hardware store to support the pallets. Simply lash the corners of the pallets to the stakes so they stay upright. For a single bin you would need four posts and three pallets to make the back and sides, plus one more optional pallet for the front. For two bins side by side you would need 6 stakes and 5 pallets for the back, middle divider and sides, plus an optional 2 pallets to make "doors" for the front. Using a pallet "door" across the front makes it look tidier but the "door" needs to be removable so you can shovel material in and out easily. For a neater look, try to find pallets that are about the same size and have similar board patterns. The pallets will weather to a silvery gray or they can be stained or painted to suit your taste.
