The Q&A Archives: Magnolia Propagation

Question: What variety of Magnolia will set seed pods in the fall in Washington?

Answer: Yours is a difficult question to answer, as all magnolias capable of setting cone-like seed pods do so from late summer through early autumn. My guess is that it's either Magnolia grandiflora or M. fraseri. Both grow well in the Pacific Northwest.

Hope this helps you identify the magnolia in question!
