We have a 17 year old Norfolk Island Pine that is over 7' tall with branches over 3' long --it has taken over the room. Can we trim those branches back? If so, how short can we make the branches. |
Unfortunatley, this plant really resents pruning of any kind. In my experience the best you can hope for is to slow down its growth by fertilizing it a tad less so it is on a "maintenance" diet. If it is a life and death matter of "smaller or be gone", you could try nipping off a portion of each of the new growth tips when they appear. |
