The Q&A Archives: Hawaiian Ti Plant

Question: I would like to know what the culture/care is for the Hawaiian Ti Plant.

Answer: Hawaiian ti or Hawaiian good-luck-plant (Cordyline terminalis) is most colorful when given plenty of light, although it will tolerate moderate light levels too. It does well in average household temperatures of 65 degrees or higher. Fertilize with a water soluble or slow release product with a 3-1-2 or similar ratio according to the label instructions. Repot as needed using a good quality mix, preferably a soilless blend with a pH near 6. You may want to use rain water to water it if your water has high fluoride levels and you see signs of foliage damage at the tips. Enjoy your plant!
