The Q&A Archives: Source for Thunbergia (Black-Eyed Susan Vine

Question: In Ojai, California I saw a plant/vine which I was told is called thunbergia. Could you please tell me another name for this plant and, if it is available for purchase? I love the orange flowers. I would also need to know if it would be appropriate to grow in a large pot, on a balcony with south-west exposure. Thank you. Gardener Los Angeles, CA

Answer: Thunbergia is also know as the Black-eyed Susan vine. Burpee sells seeds on page 39 of the 1997 catalog. It's a pretty short vine (4-6' tall) to grow and should do well in your California location.
