Answer: In my experience most root vegetables do not transplant well so they are not usually seeded for transplanting, although it's always worth a try. Radishes grow so quickly and in such cool temperatures that they do not really need to be started indoors where space is usually at a premium. You might consider starting plants such as carrots in a large deep tub or half barrel set on wheels if you are bound and determined to start indoors. Potatoes can also be grown in interesting ways such as inside an old straw bale or perhaps using a large tub into which additional layers of cover are added as the plants grow and could later be moved outdoors. With some creativity I'm sure you can come up with some interesting ideas to experiment with.
