You are in zone 5, which means that the average annual minimum temperature range is somewhere between -10 and -20. So you want to choose roses that are cold hardy. Even so, you will need to protect them from cold weather in the fall. There are many types and colors you can choose from. Here's a few from a listing of hardy roses in "Roses for Dummies" by Lance Walheim and the NGA.

Hybrid Tea: Mr. Lincoln (red), Tropicana (coral-orange), Midas Touch (yellow), Dainty Bess (pink)

Floribunda: Iceberg (white), Showbiz (red), Sunsprite (yellow), Betty Prior (pink)

Miniatures: Starina (red), Party Girl (yellow) Minnie Pearl (pink), Jean Kenneally (apricot)

Climbers: American (pink), Don Juan (red), Golden Showers (yellow)
