I am interested in planting the Zephrine Drouhin Antique Roses on the south side of my house, they would get full sun against the lt gray wall of our home. Any advice on this type of rose would be very much appreciated. Are they easy to maintain? What suggestions do you have for complimentary flowers to plant around them? This is my first attempt at roses so I am very concerned about planting them correctly.

For best performance, plant roses where they will receive full sun all day, provide good air circulation, water regularly, and stand back far enough to enjoy the show! If you're planting a climber, provide a trellis thats 6"-8" away from the wall of your home. This will give the canes support, and will allow air to circulate around and between, helping prevent disease.

Zephirine Drouhin is a Bourbon rose. It's almost thornless and produces very fragrant, peppermint-pink blossoms. It will reach 8-12 feet high and have medium green, glossy leaves.

It's easy to care for, tolerates some shade, and is disease-resistant, all of which makes it a good choice for a beginning rosarian.
