The Q&A Archives: Removing Fruit Trees

Question: I have serval trees that need to be moved to other locations apple, plum and orange. They are older trees, can they be moved and replanted or is it a waste of time?

Answer: You can dig and transplant trees at any stage, as long as you can lift and transport them. If you choose to move your trees, do it now while they're dormant and they will suffer less transplant shock. Prepare the new planting holes prior to digging the trees, and be sure to set them at the same level as they were growing before. Provide water on a weekly basis until the trees become re-established.
