I was going through some notes my Grandmother wrote concerning the early part of the century (the '20's) and she refered to what she called schnitlock, stating it was a vegetable, or herb like chives. I am curious if anyone knows what this is in particular. I searched several encyclopedias with no luck. Thanks in advance for any help provided.

Schnittlauch is in fact the German word for chives. It would be phonetically similar to the spelling you used.
