The Q&A Archives: Soil For Ficus

Question: What is the best soil for our Ficus tree house plant?

Answer: Ficus benjamina (Weeping Fig) does well in most general purpose potting soil mixes. The soil mix should allow for good drainage and does not need to be terribly rich. If your tree has grown a great deal and consequently needs repotting, try to match the type of soil it currently has to minimize the risk of transplant shock.
