I have an avacado tree that was started from a pit, and is approx. 2-1/2ft tall. It is in a 3 gallon container it is currently inside my home. It has 8 leaves on it and seems happy. What do I need to do so that in the future it will produce fruit? |
A seedling avocado may take 10 to 15 years to start bearing fruit, and even then the fruit will not be true to the parent variety. For this reason commercial avocado trees are grafted to an improved variety. You could graft your tree to an improved variety or wait a few more years and take a chance on the fruit quality being acceptable to you.
