What is the best fertilizer to use for growing potatoes?

Use a balanced fertilizer such as 10-10-10. If your soil is deficient in phosphorous, you might also want to incorporate bone meal into the planting hole, as all root crops benefit from phosphorous. Potatoes can also benefit from a side dressing of fertilizer when they begin to flower.
