| I have an old berry patch that has not been taken care of for years. It mostly has wild blackberries and thimble berries growing in it now. I would like to clear out these berries and plant domestic thornless blackberries and/or rasberries. Do you think this a very good idea. I'm sure I will have to fight the wild berry growth back constantly. |
| Sounds like the berry patch is thriving! You'd be better off dragging the old plants out by their roots than trying to cut them down and keep them cut down. As long as the roots remain in the ground they'll send out new shoots. Once you've cleared the area you can grow all kinds of interesting berries. Try Meeker, Chilliwack or Summit raspberries and Triple Crown or Arapaho (both thornless)blackberries.
