The Q&A Archives: Some Plants for Shaded Planter Box

Question: I am looking for suggestions for plants for a small planter box which is in shade for most of the day. This will be at the front garage wall entrance so it should be colorful, hopefully all year round. I would prefer a perennial if it doesn't get tooleggy. Thank you for your assistance. Answer: Try the following: Geranium 'Johnson's Blue', Iberis sempervirens or Verbena peruviana. You also might consider an asparagus fern or two and fill in the spaces with shade loving annuals (begonias, impatiens, etc).
