The Q&A Archives: Using Dog Hair to Help Peppers Grow

Question: Have you ever heard of using dog hair to help pepper plants grow? I'm told that a small clump of hair next to the roots will increase the yield. It sounds strange but I do have these two large (hairy) dogs... Thank you for your time. Dann Wilke Saint Francis, WI

Answer: Many people have very unique formulas for improving pepper yields, yet I've never heard of using dog hair. It may work and don't think it'll hurt. To be sucessful peppers need constant warmth and a liquid fertilizer side dressing when the peppersfirst appear. Black mulch help to keep them warm.
