Last fall I collected seeds from pods on my hybrid daylilies. Will these seeds sprout and produce flowers, and if so, will the flowers remain true to the parent? |
If you plant the seeds you will indeed have daylily blooms in a few years, however daylilies will cross pollinate and not be true. In fact, hybridizing daylilies is an exciting, interesting and challenging hobby for many serious gardeners. Because it is such a popular process, much information is available on this fascinating subject. I suggest you go ahead and plant the seeds and see what you get. It will take a few years to get a bloom, but it will be fun to see what kind of bloom you get! |
