What kind of shrubs are used for hedges other than privet? Is there a evergreen that will grow quickly to a height of 6 to 8 feet. Maybe something that does not require a lot of maintance to keep neat. |
Based on your requirements you could consider using an upright, narrow form of the evergreen arborvitae instead, but these shrubs will require pruning to control their height. Yews also make nice hedges but they tend to need more frequent trimming. Most plants used for hedges require regular pruning to maintain a formal shape, and the faster growing they are the more often they will need it. The more informal hedges can be allowed to reach their mature size and keep their natural shaping; evergreens to consider in this group would be the junipers which are available in many ultimate sizes and shapes. Perhaps one of them would suit the space you have available. |
