The Q&A Archives: Planting A Weeping Cherry

Question: I want to purchase a weeping cherry for the centerpeice in my front yard. When is the best time to plant one?

Answer: Trees and shrubs will adjust better to transplanting if you plant them during the cooler weather of winter, spring or fall. If you plant during these months they'll have a chance to become established before having to contend with the stresses of hot summer weather.
