How easily are some of the ornamental willows propagate? Can they be done successfully with cuttings? And should they be soft or hard wood cuttings? I've ordered a pinkn ornamental willow from J&P catalog and as it was expensive I'd like to know more about it. I've not seen the species before.

In my experience, all salix are very easily propagated from cuttings taken at any time of year. Unfortunately, based on your description I am not certain which willow you have ordered but I can say it seems that the various ornamental willows have become more popular each year and that a limited supply may be reflected in the pricing for them.
