When is the earliest time I can plant tomato seeds in a Santa Barbara climate? |
Your climate is cool enough during the spring to warrant waiting until mid-May or early June to sow tomato seeds. If you start the plants earlier they may only sit and sulk until the weather warms. If you plant after the air and soil temperatures warm, the plants will make up for lost time by growing vigorously and catching up (sometimes surpassing) earlier planted tomatoes. |
