We live in East Tenn. and re-seeded several large areas of our lawn with fescue last Sept. My husband and I disagree on what we should do with the straw/hay that was put down as mulch over the seedbed. Should we rake it out now that grass has come up...or leave it there to rot? |
In my experience it is fine to leave it there in place to rot. It will help add a bit of mulch to inhibit some of the early sprouting weeds while your lawn is still becoming established and it will help feed the soil a bit once it breaks down. Raking might also damage some of the tender new growth. |
