Viola odora, or sweet violets, form clumps and spread by runners, often overtaking an area that provides just the right conditions. Plant yours in rich, well-draining soil, in full to part shade. Seeds are available from Thompson & Morgan, PO Box 1308, Jackson, NJ 08527-0308.
