Canna seeds have a hard outer coat so you'll need to chip and soak them prior to sowing. You can file a bit of the seedcoat away, or nick it slightly with a sharp knife. Then soak in tepid water for 48 hours. After this pre-treatment, sow seeds 1/4" deep in moistened seed starting mix, cover with plastic wrap to help hold in moisture, and keep trays or pots in a warm area. Seedlings will appear in 21-60 days when kept at 70F-75F.
