| I have 2 bleeding heart plants in my yard that have been there for about 3 years. Can I divide them up successfully and transplant the divisions? When is a good time to do this? I really love these plants. |
| Dicentra, or bleeding heart, is a lovely perennial. New plants sometimes spring up around the parent plant from seeds, and from roots. Look carefully around your two plants and you may be pleasantly surprised! Early spring is a good time to dig and divide the roots. Simply cut the root mass into 2-3 sections and replant in rich, moist soil. Your Dicentra should grow and bloom right on schedule in the spring. |
