When planting Arborvitae's how far apart do you plant them? They are 18month old transplants

The answer to your question depends on the variety of arborvitae you are planting and what their purpose is. For example, for a mature planting where they just touch at the edges you would plant them far enough apart to accommodate that. For a hedge, they would be closer together than their mature width, but the actual space would depend on the variety you are growing and how tall you expect to let it grow. Remember that the little plants will grow rather quickly; even at a rate of a foot or two a year they will expand rapidly. Plan ahead so you don't have to tear them out in five years because they have overgrown their space -- even though they may look "silly" for the first year or two!
