We are building a new house in the country. I would like to have a (decorative)fenced-in garden behind the house but the fence can not be so tall as to block the view down to a marsh. I know the deer are waiting for me to plant some goodies for them! Any recommendations?

Unfortunately the safest recommendation is a fence because the hungrier deer are the more plants they learn to eat and a garden is an open invitation. You can make a tall fence by using the posts for the decorative fence to support taller extensions which in turn support wire strands or wire mesh fencing up to eight or nine feet. This is relatively invisible and usually effective.
