The Q&A Archives: Moving Irises

Question: I have mini-irises in a place I misjudged the sun exposure (too little sun). Can I move them now or must I wait until fall? Karen Flower Chicago, IL

Answer: The best time to move irises is after blooming in summer, but since they're probably just starting to grow, you can try to move them now. The risk is setting back the plants so they don't flower this year, but if you are careful, get lots of soil andwater it well, I think they'll be okay.
