The Q&A Archives: "Day Neutral" Strawberries ( Tristar')

Question: You offer Tristar strawberries in your catalog and refer to them as "day neutral". What does day neutral mean? Beverly Turner Vancouver, WA

Answer: Tristar is one of the new varities that bear all season. They are termed "day neutral" because they are not sensitive to the differences between long and short days. They will bear berries most of the summer even as the days grow longer, but will still produce the biggest harvest in June/July, small harvest through the summer and another good sized harvest in fall.
