My grandmother grew an annual she called "hermit's weed". It was a light green variegated leaf with a Queen's Anne's Lace like bloom. It grew about 6" high and could be aggressive. What other name could it be know by as I would like to have some and can't find it?

I believe you are describing the variegated form of Aegopodium podagaria also known as Goutweed and Bishop's Weed. In my experience, "aggressive" is an understatement as this plant can be extremely difficult to eradicate from areas where it is not wanted!
