The Q&A Archives: Tomatoes

Question: What kind of tomatoes do you need to grow to make homemade spaghetti sauce?

Answer: In my experience just about any tomato is fine for a light, quickly cooked tomato sauce. The traditional types used for sauce and ketchup and so on are called "paste" tomatoes because they are relatively "meaty". You might try one of these such as "Viva Italia" especially if you are planning to do lots of canning.
