Vitex Tree Information - Knowledgebase Question

A friend has seeds for a tree which she says is fast growing and great in Texas. I can find no information on this tree and need to know if it a wise selection. She says the name is Vitex.

Vitex (technically known as Vitex agnus-castus) will do great in your area. It is tolerant of high pH soils and hot, dry conditions. Its blue bloom spikes appear in summer. The following web sites offer photos or more information:
