Dwarf firewheel is the common name of Gaillardia, a perennial plant, often called Blanket Flower. The plants thrive in full sunshine, in average to moist soil. Seed should be sown in the autumn or in the early spring. Several varieties, including a dwarf hybrid, are available from Thompson & Morgan, PO Box 1308, Jackson, NJ 08527-0308.
