The Q&A Archives: Direct Sun On Amaranthus

Question: Can amaranthus grow in direct sun in tucson, arizona?

Answer: Some amaranth varieties will take full sun here, but the 'Summer Poinsettia' mix that Burpee offers would be better with protection from hot afternoon sun because it has a wider, lusher type of leaf. (Note that native desert plants have very small leaves, thus limiting the surface area exposed to the sun.)
