Answer: Delosperma is a succulent, growing best in full sunshine, with little to no water requiremented during the growing season. D nubigenum is the hardiest of all ice plants, tolerating neutral to very alkaline soils, full sunshine and droughty conditions. The plants grow barely 1" high, spreading to 3', with fleshy, cylindrical, bright green leaves (turning red in the fall), and bright golden yellow flowers in the spring. Plants need water only when they begin to look dull and withered, and require no fertilizer. The only problems associated with Delosperma is poorly draining soils. Plant yours in sandy soil and it should thrive.
