We love lupines from the pictures although we've never seen one before. We live in zone 9, California, border of Los Angeles County and Organe County. According to the instructions, lupines can not be grown in our zone. Are there any possible ways we can have lupines in our garden? Thank you very much. We love your website and your catalog.

You can grow lupines in your southern California garden, but they should be treated as annuals rather than expected to reappear year after year. The best cultivars for you are Lupinus argenteus, L. hartwegii, and L. nanus.

Lupine seeds are difficult to germinate and you'll have best success if you chip the seed coat and soak the seeds overnight before planting.
