Flowering Kale and cabbage are called "cool season" crops because they make their best growth in the spring and fall in northern climates and during the winter in warmer zones. These beautiful vegetables have become quite popular in the flowerbeds because of these characteristics. Unfortunately you are at the end of your growing season in Zone 8. Plan to plant them to enjoy next winter.
