I have heard that there is more than one type of BT for controlling worms on vegetables. Is this true and if so can these be purchased from Burpee?

There are several strains of Bt, and each targets specific pests. For instance, the standard B.t. (Bacillus thuringiensis)is effective against caterpillars of all kinds. BTSD (B.t. var. san diego) works against Colorado Potato Beetles, and BTK (B.t. var. kurstaki) works against cutworms.

A complete line of B.t. products are available from Gardens Alive, 5100 Schenley Pl., Lawrenceburg, IN 47025 (phone 812-537-8650), or Gardener's Supply, 128 Intervale Rd., Burlington, VT 05401 (phone 800-863-1700.
