The Q&A Archives: Fertilizing Seedlings

Question: Should you fertilize seedlings? If so when and with what? John Partlow Coram, NY

Answer: Yes, you can fertilize seedlings. I do it right from the start with a weak liquid fertilizer (1/4 tsp/gallon water). Use this at every watering. Be sure to keep it on the weak side so you don't over fertilize. A strong fertilizer solution can "burn" roots.
