I grew birdhouse gourds a year ago. They are now completely dried and I wiped them off with Chlorox water. How do I go about preparing them for use outside as birdhouses? |
You'll need to use a saw to cut or drill a hole to take the seeds out and allow the birds to enter the gourd (one-inch for small birds, two or two-and-a-half inches for larger birds). Also drill one or two holes on the bottom for drainage and two more holes in the top so you can string through some wire for a hanger. Some people add a protective coating to the gourds as well. |
