I PRUNED MY DOGWOOD IN THE FALL TO IT'S DETRAMENT. SINCE THAT PRUNING I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO GET IT TO BLOOM. DID I PUT IT INTO SHOCk??? IT USED TO BLOOM BEAUTIFULLY. |
Dogwoods set their flower buds the year before they bloom, so by pruning in the fall you would have removed the flowers for the coming year. Incidentally it is not usually a good idea to prune these trees too heavily -- so I am not sure if you "shocked" it or not. Be sure to keep it watered if there is another dry summer and hope for the best. With luck it will bloom again next year. |
