Would appreciate it if you would tell me the best slow release fertilizer to use when planting annuals in a container.

When selecting a slow release fertilizer look for one formulated for annuals or blooming plants; it should contain the three basic elements, nitrogen, phosphorus and potash; it is also good if it contains "minors" or micronutrients. Apply it carefully according to the label instructions (too much is not better than not enough.)
