The Q&A Archives: When Can I Start Planting In The Garden?

Question: I live in northwest Arkansas, when can I start to plant outdoors?

Answer: You can start about five weeks before the last expected frost with cole crop transplants (such as broccoli and cabbage) and you can seed peas and spinach that early, too. Set out lettuce transplants and seeds as well as onion sets about a month before the last frost. Soon after that, start planting seeds for beets, radishes and carrots. That should get you off to a good start!
