Please advise the best way to start impatiens from seeds. When I start them indoors they never seem to germinate. Do I cover the seeds? |
Impatiens are normally started indoors. The ideal temperautre for the soil is about 70 to 75 degrees, so gentle bottom heat may help; at the same time do not overheat the soil as too high a temperature will inhibit germination. If you use plastic wrap to cover the seeds and maintain humidity, be sure you are not placing the pot in direct sunlight as this can cause the pot to overheat the same way a closed car would. Do not cover the seeds as most of them need light to germinate. I hope this helps. |
