A section of my yard has highly acidic soil. Instead of trying to change the soil, I want to plant flowers or groundcover that like acidic soil. I know that blueberries and azelias like acid soil but I'm looking for flowering plants not shrubs. Can you recommend any acid-loving plants? |
Some of the flowering plants that thrive in acid soils include Iris kaempferi, Erica, Lewisia, Tropaeolum (flame flower), Dierama (wandflower), Lupin, Calceolaria, Primula, Narcissus, Lilium speciosum, Muscari, Gentian, Andromeda (Bog Rosemary), Begonia and Shortia. I've also had good results with vinca minor and ajuga as groundcovers in my acidic soil. |
